Bed Time Stories

Ever since Gwendolyn was little we have read to her nightly. My favorite children's book author is Nancy Tillman. Each of her books have beautiful illustrations and the rhyme scheme is lovely to read aloud. Anyhow, Gwendolyn's first book was "On the Night you were Born." I love reading this book to her and although as an infant she had no clue what were doing I think she enjoyed it. On a recent trip to Kohl's they had a display with more Nancy Tillman books and for $5 a piece (so it was a steal and I bought all 4 that they had.

Recently we have been reading one of the new books, titled "Wherever you are" and she has been very interested in the pictures.

Last night Gwendolyn ran into her room at bedtime and came out with her book. This is the first time she has ever done this. She proceeded to climb onto the sofa with Daddy and sit quietly for her story. It was the sweetest thing!

You'll have to forgive the not so great photo as it was taken by my camera phone. But this is where she caught me taking the picture of them.

I cannot stress enought the importance of reading to children! It really does make a difference in their daily lives. I love that we can bond and cuddle over stories, and that her vocabulary is growing as a result.
